Farewell GeForce RTX 3060 Ti!

KEY POINTS: The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, a popular graphics card, appears to be reaching the end of its life after over two years in Nvidia’s lineup. Nvidia has reportedly stopped shipping the GA104 chips used in the RTX 3060 Ti, making way for the upcoming RTX 4060 Ti series.
20 May, 2023 – The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti has been a cornerstone of Nvidia’s graphics card lineup for well over two years. Renowned for its impressive performance, robust feature set, and competitive pricing (during non-mining periods), this model has been a favorite among mainstream gamers. However, it seems that the time has come for the venerable RTX 3060 Ti to step aside.
According to information shared on Benchlife, Nvidia has halted the shipment of GA104 chips, which are used in the RTX 3060 Ti. The logical assumption is that Nvidia did so to make room for the new RTX 4060 series, and it aims to clear out existing inventory.
Although the production stoppage of RTX 3060 Ti chips does not immediately imply a scarcity of stock, it does suggest that the availability of this model may decrease over time. Nevertheless, there should still be ample opportunities to acquire one in the foreseeable future, and diligent shoppers might even find attractive deals.
When it debuted in 2020, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti had a launch price of $399 and offered excellent value for gamers. While it may not have topped the Steam Hardware Survey or the best-selling charts, it consistently maintained a strong position among the latest offerings, usually ranking within the top ten.
Nvidia just unveiled the GeForce RTX 4060 series, which will include the RTX 4060, the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, and the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. The RTX 4060 Ti 8Gb is available starting May 24, while the base RTX 4060 and the Ti 16Gb model will be available in July. At launch the RTX 4060 will be priced starting at $299, the RTX 4060 Ti 8Gb starting at $399, and the RTX 4060 Ti 16Gb starting at $499.
Unless a new crypto mining frenzy emerges, it is unlikely that these new graphics cards will experience the same supply issues that plagued its predecessor. Nvidia new graphic cards could potentially become the most sought-after graphics cards of 2023 and perhaps even 2024.
Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4060 series will soon be competing with AMD’s highly anticipated Radeon RX 7600.
